How to sign up for Azure for Students offer?

Azure for Students provides a limited amount of free Azure credits to eligible students each month that you can use to explore and learn about Azure services. Be mindful of your usage to avoid unexpected charges.

As a student, you would need to use your university or school email to sign up and renew each year you’re a student.

Who is eligible for Azure for Students?

Azure for Students is available only to students who meet the following requirements:

  • You must affirm that you are age 18 or older and attend an accredited, degree-granting, two-year or four-year educational institution where you’re a full-time student.
  • You must verify your academic status through your organization’s email address.
  • See the Azure for Students for detailed terms of use.

This offer is limited to one Azure for Student subscription per eligible customer. It’s non-transferable and can’t be combined with any other offer, unless otherwise permitted by Microsoft.

Down below, you can find steps to sign up for Azure for Student offer by authenticating your academic (.edu) domain –

Step 1- Go to the official Azure for Students website and click on ‘Start free’.

Step 2- Next page prompts for login. Login with your .edu.np email address.

Step 3- Enter your credentials after which next page follows where you can fill out your personal details as per school, college or university records.

Step- 4- In the next screen, verify that you’re a human and also click on ‘Verify academic status’ button.

Step- 5- The next step will prompt you to add some more personal details of yours including asking you to verify your phone number through OTP code.

Step- 6- After you have verified your mobile number with the OTP code, you would be able to sign up for Azure for Students offer.

Step- 7- Finally, your Azure account is setup with USD100 worth of Azure credits. You may now start using Azure by logging into https://portal.azure.com.

Finally, we are able to successfully sign up for Azure for Students offer by authenticating edu. domain based email address.

There can be a case when you either do not have a .edu based email address or even if you have, the above steps wouldn’t work for your college/university domain for Microsoft Azure access (due to business limitations). In this case, you can follow steps as outlined below-

Step 1- Visit https://www.microsoftazurepass.com and click on start option to redeem your Azure token worth $100. Sign in with any Microsoft account (work or personal).

Step 2- Click on start.

Step 3- Enter the unique Azure pass code or promo code shared with you by your Microsoft associates.
