Interns at MIC Nepal Visit Government Owned Data Center

This month, a 20-member delegation of IT Pro and Developer interns from Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal visited Government Integrated Data Center (GIDC), the government owned only Data Center located inside Singhadurbar in Kathmandu.

During the trip, interns were able to learn about major roles & responsibilities of the national data center, about how the data center is able to provide IT services to various government bodies including ministries and departments. Mr. Ramesh Prasad Pokhrel, IT Officer at GIDC briefed MIC interns about all the services they were providing including- high speed internet, domain registrations, web hosting, skill development camps, server co locations, e-gate pass, etc. among others.

The visit was a part of Unlimited Internship program that MIC Nepal is running for the past couple of months. Unlimited Internship is a 7-8 weeks long internship program exclusively designed to be offered as benefits to the final year students of MICNIC (Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal Innovation Cell) Colleges (http://www.micnepal.org/Academia/MICNICFY17.aspx ) in and outside Kathmandu valley.
