Configuring a TechnetNepal.net blog in Windows Live Writer

Windows Live Writer is a powerful tool when it comes to blogging. You can add photos and videos, format everything just so, and publish to most blogging services. So, obviously, this is a great companion for bloggers. It’s actually one among suites of applications within Windows Essentials. Windows Essentials also includes: Mail, Family Safety, Messenger Companion, Outlook Connector Pack, Bing Bar, Silverlight and Live Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, etc.

The blog-publishing tool is currently compatible with Community Server, SharePoint blogs, Blogger, WordPress, Telligent Community, among others. Below is a walk thru process on how to set up Live Writer in Community Server blog service providers like www.technetnepal.net.

Step 1: Download Windows Live Writer from here. Once downloaded, install the file and start configuring. Below is the first screen that you will come across.

Step 2: Select Other Services and click <Next>.

Step 3: Insert your Community Server blog space credentials. For here, lets take an example of a blog space at www.technetnepal.net portal where you have your blog space address as: www.technetnepal.net/blogs/msp2014blogger/default.aspx with username: msp2014blogger & a password: *******.

Step 4: Once, inserted, click <Next>.

Step 5: This is how the screen appears.

Step 6: Select <Community Server> from the dropdown menu first and then insert the domain name of the blog space provider. For instance- ‘technetnepal.net’ as shown in the picture.

Step 7: The blog in the Community Server will be detected. No action required.

Step 8: You might want to download your blog theme that you have originally available in the community server itself. Depending on your interest, click next.

Step 9: Give a name to your newly configured blog in the Live Writer so that you can distinctly recognize the place you are posting the blog. Remember, you can configure multiple blog credentials as per your requirement.

Step 10: Here you go with the ready to blog screen. You are now onboard ready to publish your blog thru Live Writer.
